Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry Update
August 1st, 2009 eric
Awesome reports have been coming in this week about the Soup Kitchen. Special thanks goes out to Darla and her talented team of Soup Kitchen CHEF’S and Denney for organizing the volunteer’s. We are blessed by so many at our church that refuse to simply “GO” to church and have decided we want to “BE” the church. It’s why we identify one of our main values as being Missional.
Thanks to each of you that gave a cup of water and a hug in HIS name… when we’ve done it to the least of these we’ve given it to HIM. To all of you… Thanks gang for serving Jesus supper this week! I know he L-O-V-E-D it!
Food Pantry Update - Please continue to pray for our Neighborhood Food Pantry at Thriftique - It has been virtually impossible for Supply to keep up with demand. Many day’s we have only been able to offer a few scrapes to people in need because we have exhausted our shelves. You all have done such a great job bringing in food as you have been made aware of the need… I thank you for that. However, recently, by the favor of God, we have caught the attention of the Northern Illinois Food bank and Sister organization Chicago Food Depository who seam very interested with our concept of a food pantry mixed in with a thrift/consignment store. This certainly is attracting more individuls because it is a food pantry where participants feel they can get the help they need in an atmosphere of dignity and respect.
We have met a few times with these stellar organizations and have been discussing the possibility of a relationship that we could work out. This potential relationship would allow us to feed more individuals and get more resources in the cupboards of the hungry in our community. Please be in prayer for this relationship and the community we serve. Updates are sure to follow at this time let me simply ask you to keep this high on your prayer list.
